Rear side brake lights aren't working but high centre brake light (above spare tyre) is working. The reversing lights also work so it's not the fuse, which I have double ckecked and I have also checked both globes. Any ideas on what to try next???

Checked the bulbs and both look fine although I might still take the precaution of replacingthem just to eliminate them as the problem. I assume the centre high is on separate wiring given it still works?

What year is it? are you looking in right place?

Pre-2004 the tail and brake lights are low down on the bumper with the indicators. The red lights high up on the side with the reversing lights are in fact the rear Fog Lights.

Are you getting the 12V when breaking and measuring on the contacts?? (To eliminate a broken cable).

Problem solved - replaced the bulbs, which both looked fine, and all working. I was also looking at the high lights and not the brake lights on the lower bumper (thanks for the tip).
The higher lights with the reverse lights don't work, or at least I can't figure out what they are for (although they do have globes in them). If they are fog lights I assume they are there only becasue they are a complete unit with the reverse light and not a factory standard. The dash swith for fog lights does nothing and there are no front lights.
Anyway don't get fog often where I am so I'm just glad to have the brake lights back so no one ran up my tail. Thanks for the tips.

Ah yes - not much Fog around Newcastle, OZ - drove by there on me way from Sydney to Brisbane.

The Rear Foglights are a standard fit by the factory in that light cluster that includes the reversing lights.
They will only work when the side/main lights are on.

But, country vehicle regulations may/will vary.

Over here in England they are mandatory and part of the Annual Vehicle Roadworthiness Test (MOT)

(Front foglights are an optional and not mandatory)
