Brake lights on all the time

Hi,

Juest replaced bulkhead and my brake lights stay on all the time, i have checked the wiring to the brake pedal and its ok,


Any ideas

check wiring colours go to correct item , and match both sides of plugs

Check the brake light switch adjustment - if the switch is screwed out too far the lights will stay on all the time. If you disconnect the switch and the lights go out then this is yer problem (unless the switch is bust)

would say the switch is knacked light should be out until the brake pedal switch is pressed

Still could be the adjustment - with the brake pedal up the switch is pushed in against its spring pressure to break the contacts. If the switch is screwed too far out the brake pedal doesn't push the switch in far enough to disconnect. Don't screw the switch in too far as it can make the brakes lock partially on - set the play in the brake pedal at the cylinder before adjusting the switch.
