Evening gents......
I noticed the other day that my lower brake lights are not working, top one is!
iv tried changing the bulbs only to find the stop/tail bulb holder is melted on both sides.
any ideas what could cause this?
i have towed a trailer recently and when coupled up i put the fogs on and it blew the fuse.
Could dodgey trailer wiring have melted my bulb holders?
Only thing i can think is try replacement light clusters without a trailer on and see if it happens again????
Any ideas??

A dead short in the trailer could result in an over load, side lamp fuse should have blown like the fogs, check its the right size fuse in both side and brake lamp.

Bulb holders can overheat due to poor connection also incorrect or poor a quality bulb remember there could be around 26w with both elements alight, so can get hot amyway and especially with the above.
I drive an automatic so the bulb holders get hot as i'm always braking in traffic but they haven't melted yet...

Any short circuit in the brake light circuit would have popped a fuse.

Mines an auto too, hopefully two new clusters might sort then, cheers for the replies
