Hi,

To add to my engine blowing up and being replaced at a cost of £3,000, new brakes, battery, a mysterious problem of lack of power at 70mph and a strong smell of gas coming from the engine (Yes, GAS)............!!..........The world's worst car (Freelander TD4 Auto 06 Plate) has now added another hammer blow to my currently bulimic looking wallet - complete brake light failure!

I've replaced all the bulbs, had the brake switch checked - but still nothing!

Any ideas to save me from pushing it off of beachy head??

Thanks

Finally solved it - the brake light switch behind the pedal had broken down and had shorted the new bulbs I had installed, so make sure you install new bulbs after replacing the brake lights witch if changing the bulbs doesnt work.

I’ve had brake light failure too on my 2001 v6. Brake switch failed then later on the switch on the rear of the ignition switch failed. That also caused the wind screen wipers to fail.

Second engine, second gearbox…
