Hi All,

How hot should the brake disc's on a TD4 get during normal driving conditions? I have a binding brake on the passenger side which gets really hot (fixing it tomorrow) i have been checking the drivers side one and that seems to go from luke warm to hot depending on how far i go.

Hope its not a daft question.... thanks in advance

Unless your journey involved a lot of braking then I suspect the other side is binding as well. In low use the disk should be relatively cool as the heat from braking dissipates quite quickly into the surrounding components. If your wheel is warm too then you almost certainly have a problem.

It is usually the nearside that goes first due to more crud on the side of the road but not unusual for both sides to need doing (whatever the cause is) at the same time.

Putting a new seals kit in both of my front calipers on Saturday as they are binding.

That's what i'm thinking (maybe getting paranoid), i'll have a look at the other side tomorrow when i check the near side

I checked the seal etc yesterday and all seemed fine, no corrosion etc, the piston seemed ok a swell, i'll give everything a good clean up and move the piston in and out few times, then copper grease it all and see if that works
