I have a 300 Tdi and the pads are loose in the calipers.

I have replaced the pads and the retaining kit but they are still loose so it looks like new calipers are required.

The question is where is the best place to get them from?

Paddocks £41.50 + vat is the best price I have found so far.

I would appreciate any input as we all know how important the brakes are.

Thanks guys and guyesses :)

Are you refering to a clicking/rattling coming from your front pads that goes away when you brake?

If so it's a common problem that I solved by putting slightly stronger springs between the pads where the top pins go through.

wont work, Robin - Disco calipers are renowned for wearing, such as the pads an slide down on to the hub - only way to fix is caliper replacement.

I had the same problem with subsequent rear brakes over heating§

There can be play in the rear caliper bolt holes, I cured mine by slacking off the caliper bolts and then tightening with a screw driver gently pushing the pad out between the pad and the hub at the same time.

Nearly all good motor factors have them stocked on the shelf (so no waiting for them to be ordered in) as they are such a common thing to go wrong, can't remember how much they are, not that much if I remember rightly, worth giving them Andrew Pages a ring (or whoever you local motor factor is) and seeing how much they quote, if its only a couple of quid more it could be worth it as you can go pick it up and install it same day.
