I have a Land Rover hybrid and I think the chassis is from a 1970's range rover.
I need to replace the front calipers but am not sure what they are or where to get them from.

The calipers have lockheed 3247-637 on them they have 3 bleed screws. Does anyone know if these are the same as part number AEU1719. This part looks the same but it says they are metric where as I think mine are imperial.

Please help before I buy the wrong ones!:)

The number you gave us is the Lockheed number. There are slight differences in the calipers for each decade. What's yer VIN?

AEU1719 will do up to about June 1985 IIRC. And I take it you have solid discs? The front has three bleed holes because of the dual circuit at the front. You will need to see if your unions are metric or UNF. Many have been changed over the years. LR even went back to UNF for a while after going metric. A VIN number would help as the change over was early 80's

Happy New Year.

Sorry,,,I don't know the VIN as the chassis is a cut down range rover chassis underneath a Land Rover series 2 body.

I think the Range Rover chassis is old, since the rear trailing arms are the thinner ones apparently before they beefed them up later on (or so I am told).

Where would I find the VIN number?

How do I know if the calipers are UNF?

Sorry I'm really new to all this but enjoying the challenge.

Thanks for replying and a happy new year to you too!

ahh, right! So it's hybrid thingy.

What I can remember is that (I think) if the caliper is UNF then the caliper bolts are hex and if metric they are bi-hex. What I did in the end was get two unions, one 10mm and a UNF one and see which one fitted snug. They are similar so you have to be careful.

These are the threads where I posted. See if they are any help and get back to us.

So what could be the worst thing if I buy the AEU1719 calipers? Will they still line up with the hanging bolts holes and disc? Would it be the brake pipe lines that would be the problem?

I think the main thing is that they fit the axel and discs.

I also think they'll be ok.

Many thanks for your help folks. I'll let you know if they were ok.

Just to let anyone know who is interested the brake calliper situation.

The calliper AEU1719 and AEU1718 were a replacement for my Lockheed callipers.

The only difference was that the union pipe connectors needed to be metric.
Just gotta bleed the brakes now.
