Does anyone know what size the brake caliper star headed bolt thing is as I only want to buy one rather than a set.

Many thanks

Rob

Do you mean the Torx bit? T50 or T55.

If you go to a motor factors and can actually get to the bolt your after, I'd have thought that they would have let you try a couple to make sure that you've got the right size before buying.

DODGY ...... fit a pair of new ones on the same side, and use copper grease on the threads.

Using an OLD bolt and a new one together is bad practice. It's just to sort of thing that can cause a caliper to come loose ... chance in a million ... but .... that's what they said about the Titanic too.

After you fit them, clean them well and paint the heads. Maks the heads easier to work with next time - less rust.

thanks for the response. Yes its a torx bit. The local motor factors recon they have a set for 11 quid so may just buy that but make sure that it includes that size.
I was going to use the orginal caliper bolts and threadlock them back on.

Thanks

Is that so ?

And who is the lucky man with spanners who is going to have to take them out next time?

Remember, it might be YOU!

I take your point. I thought that you were meant to thread lock it:confused:. A few years back I changed some discs on my gti and the calipers came off because i didnt thread lock them??? Clearly im no mechanic :)

Right all done, thanks for the pointers. Brought a whole tub of copper grease for 8 quid when only a small tube next to it was nearly a fiver, bargain!
Ive fitted Paddocks own performance discs on the front. I know theres some debate on the fact they are drilled and grooved (filling up with mud etc) but considering they are actually made by EBC and are £40 odd quid plus vat, they are a real bargain. I also used the EBC pads with the red finish to help them brake well from fitting and i have to say the difference was incredible and i cant recomend them enough!!!! My dics on the back where scored (not too badly) and i fitted new EBC pads to the back and they have evened them out a treat. They also do an ever better set of EBC pads but they wear the discs out a lot quicker for not much gain.

Anyway just for info........:)
