Hello hippo lovers,
Have done a bit of testing regarding fuel recently on my venerable L series oil burner, 5000 miles in 6 months of various types of roads.

I have come to the conclusion that BP fuel is ****e.

Shell and texaco stuff is much better. Just there standard derv's not the fancy crap. I have come to my scientific conclusion by noticing:

With BP fuel my hippo smokes more, is harder to start, is less 'pokey' and therefore is quite poor on MPG.

Shell and texaco doozil is better with the engine noticeably sve less smoke and quieter.

My wifes megane dci loves the shell stuff again compared to BP, she does a lot of miles, knows nothing about cars, but maintains she gets more miles per tank and better performance from shell.

anybody else got a pennys worth?

P.S Im not anti BP or owt just being honest.

I never notice much difference with Diesel, but would agree with you when it comes to buying petrol, i only ever use Shell, but my wife uses anything in her car, she can tell the difference with Shell in it, not any quicker just feels smoother on pick up.

My experiment a few weeks ago with V-Power diesel in the hippo didn't really make any difference to econmoy or performance that i noticed, it did 38.5 MPG on a full tank, but will do that anyway with standard stuff in the tank.

When theres only a cent in the difference when it costs 124.9 as opposed to 123.9 for the cheap not so clean stuff in the non topaz or texaco.
There is a noticeable difference.
