mine had got annoying and I stripped out dash to find the speedo is sealed, further to this the rubber bung reveals the inside is shielded against tampering.
having found 3 in 1 oil evaporates off bronze bush, on speedo bushes, spray grease is ideal-spray it between drive and plastic and leave it to soak clocks face down 10 min=smooth and no bouncing
to remove dash
remove 4 screws 2 top side one and two vertical bottom ones.
pull towards steering wheel-do not tip
disconnect speedo by pressing ring
disconnect plugs and unclip rear screen lamp holder if fitted.
may be wise to replace dash bulbs while apart, and use small screw driver to bend electrical contacts in plugs-working dash lights
