Evening all,

Got my hand on a very cheap 300tdi today (to replace my mpi) although it has mot/tax and drives really well it does have one big issue.. or hole! the entire boot floor panel is shot to bits.. So I'm wondering is this something that an amateur welder can do (not me I have a mate who's been doing car repairs for years)? Or should I stump up to have this done professionally?

Also.. I was looking on paddocks website.. the floor panel is about 50 quid.. but they also list two different support peices.. But when I look at the holey mess in the back of the landy I cant see any supports? How many support pieces should there be?

(the arches, side pieces etc are all fine so its just the center pieces of the boot I need to get done...

Any thoughts/advice would be much appreciated. J

DIY new panel is about £50. just drill spot welds out ansd puddle weld new panel in place.

Don't listen to that pish. Puddle welds an all that....WTF.

If your floor is that bad you may need the boot floor sides also.
They are about £20 per side.

You can make the supports out of angle.

If you don't need the sides drill out the spot welds or if you have access to a compressor and air chisel, chisel through the welds, much quicker.

Replace boot floor and weld up.

I'll some pics of mine up soon;)

so how do you suggest he weld it then??

read the ****ing posts dickwad. He's already said the sides and arches etc are good.

He wont know if the sides are fine until he removes the floor...FFS where do you experts comer from??

I suggest he should............weld it ya fukkin moron....puddles is that what you wake up to in the morning.
Big puddles of **** after speaking it all night on here.:blabla:

weld it in which way?? or are you suggesting he contact LR and get them to lend him the spot welding robot they built the car with originally??

Puddle welds are the only way to weld a boot floor to the cross supports. Unless you know a better way, If so do share ya knowledge?? after all that's what we're here for!!!

Just drill holes and weld them up or cut grooves and well them up.
Stitch them every 2 inches.

Grooves would be better but I'd prefer to fully weld.
TBH after removing the floor he may find the leading edge is rotten.
So either new sides or plate it.

Puddles is that slang for tiddles???

Oi sciatica stop lurking and start sharing ya amazing expert knowledge?? you keep going on about how muchj you know. But I've yet to see you post on relevant and factual thing!! so come on how do you weld a boot floor in??
