well now i have purchased a shiney new sound system and lots more bags and recovery bits and its getting a mess!

i fitted 6x9's and the fire extinguisher in a shelf behind the seat, like so

so now they are nice and tidy now but that leaves a huge pile still on the floor and a sub and amp flying around back there.

so has anyone built or done anything in the back of thiers to hold kit, etc?

was going to put the wheel up on a bracket on 1 side but dont want it un-evenly loaded.

any pics would be great. i get her back on the road on the 1st so ill be back out n about!!!!

you can buy these which are real neat especially as they are shaped to fit tight against the sides. BareBox

Or I built a plywood box across the back which used the bulkhead as the back piece and had a liftup lid.

Also put ya highlift behind the front seats and bolted to the bulkhead. out of sight anf easy to get at then.

the bucket seats are bodged in still so cant put anythin behind them easily, did see someone on here mounted it above the back door which i liked tho.

Will eventually get around to building a full height unit in the back of me landy about 18" deep going to be made completely from solid pine with 7 lockable compartments for all me gear. hopefully leaving an area open at the bottom to slide the ol' airbed in when I go away to shows etc.... may even make a full width compartment at the bottom that could house a rolled up zed bed mattress dunno yet. Will also be ply lining and insulating the rear off the landy for when i want to camp out during the winter.

Hope you get some good ideas for your landy Thainy, Good luck with it

Cheers guys. Did think timber but it's so bloody heavy. Don't want to weigh the old girl down with just A 200tdi pulling. Great idea about the front seat I'll do that asap. Never needs to slide does it. Any implications regards m.o.t tho? Or simply take it all out for that? Seat belts n all. Every not see's all optional bits off the landy anyways! Haha.

Marine ply seems like a good option. Easy to work with a dead strong but not that heavy.

I made my own full length 3/4 width sliding drawer for my 90. took me a couple of days(only working a couple of hours a night after work) i think you could make your own in a weekend even never having done one before. Follow the instructions on that youtube link. ;)

Mine cost me about £30 in plywood(i did by too much though) and then i put heavy duty 100kg ball bearing runners on it. I had varnish in the shed as well.

Probably have a picture of it fitted somewhere, ill have a look see.

I'd mount the amp on the shelve between your two speakers and maybe box it all in to keep it safe and tidy.

You'll also find that boxing the speakers in will slightly improve the sound quality.

Have you thought about a Van Vault to hold all the kit in? If you go for the "mobi" one there is a plate that the actual vault sits on so it can be easily removed. I've got one of them in my Disco between the 2 dickie seats. When you take it out all you have is the plate in the back it sits in. Nice and tidy.
