hi i have 1999 freelander how do i go about turning up boost pressure on my turbo..any pics .links.welcome

shorten the wastegate linkage a couple of turns or to be more accurate connect a boost gauge and adjust till you get 20psi max.

General question, what kind of advantage would an increase in boost give? Can the ECU map this range? Is there better things to be had by fitting a Synergy box etc.

Don't flame me if I'm wrong Dave, this is what I believe to be the case.....

Adjusting the actuator linkage only increases the set point of the wastegate so it won't increase the amount of boost at low revs it just allows boost to rise to a higher maximum beyond the rpm where the max occurs as standard. (hope that makes sense)

Ecu should get signal from the map sensor and supply extra fuel so no problems there provided the fuel system can deliver. Obviously there are limits re injector size.

Tuning boxes increase fueling throughout the rpm range giving greater combustion and therefore exhaust gas. The extra exhaust gas flow spools the turbo faster/sooner so will increase boost across the rpm range. That would be the better option or a careful combination of the two if there is still a bit to be gained by wastegate adjustment with a gauge.

No worries Chaser, I ain't gonna flame you at all. :D:D:D Why did you think I would? I really don't know what the effect of increasing the boost limit would be over the tune up boxes. Can't say I'd do this to mine, I value the engine and the turbo too much. :D:D:D

Don't think you need to worry about your motor, I hear Rover enthusiasts do it all the time without detriment to their engines, 19-20psi seems to be an accepted limit. If I ran an L series I'd try it, it can always be undone if your still not comfortable with it.
