Can anyone tell me the best way to connect my two new boost & oil pressure gauges on Td4 Freelander engine please. I have fitted the gauges or rather the pod to take them, but before running the connections through it would be good to know the two best locations. I take it that the oil pressure will "T" into the usual position in the oil gallery, but where do I tap in for boost to get most acurate reading?

Aw come on you seniors, some body must have an idea as to where I tap in for the boost? I know the gauge works as I got the muvver in law to blow in one end of the tube....keep the answer clean please lads

Don't think there is somewhere to just "tee in" for the boost, i guess you may have to drill and tap the manifold to take the spigot that takes the tube to your boost gauge. If you are thinking of fitting a egr blanking kit you can get one on ebay that has a blanking screw and is supplied with a spigot that fits in place of the screw (i have this type but have not yet fitted a boost gauge) or my be you could drill and tap the existing egr valve.
Have you any pics of the mounted gauges? also i am sure many would be interested in fitting oil gauge, may be you could let us know how you get on

EGR would probably be a good place, or the aluminium section that houses the intake air temp sensor, most places after the turbo should give you a reasonably good reading...
I've always fitted the oil pressure sensor with a Tee where the oil pressure switch is fitted..

Yes I have already fitted the good quality stainless steel EGR bypass recommended by Ron. There is a 4/5mm dummy spigot that the vac tube fits on, so I guess this could be a good place to fit the boost gauge to. Have also fitted the Synergy 2a supplied by him with amazing results. This is why I am anxious to fit a boost gauge so I can see exactly what's going on. Thanks for the advise :clap2:

in my early days we did not have turbo'sn i did have a oil presure in my mini with a cooper s engin

Aaah early days...... yes I remember them;) Talk about other marques then, I had a Saab and that had both boost pressure and oil pressure gauges as factory fit. Going back to the Td4 I have located a "T" piece for the oil pressure sender which has M12 x 1.5 male to M12 x 1.5 female out and 1/8 npt "T" off (Fits all BMW engines) so ideal for the gauge kit I have in mind. Looking at the small spigot on the EGR blanking unit, I have found it is not hollow as first thought. So I will remove the unit, then drill and braze a spigot on to take the boost gauge tube.

I'm considering fitting gauges to mine, I want to have oil pressure, oil temp, boost and maybe water temp because I like to know what's going on with my engine but need to sus out where to connect everything.

Interested in seeing how other folks have fitted gauges and where they are connected. I've already got the gauges loitering somewhere in my garage that I didn't fit to my other car.

So how did you guys get on with fitting your gauges, any advice?

I have replaced the front boost hose with a piece from an R32 skyline, it has a boost gauge take off/feed already on it, so I would recommend doing something like this.

Ah, my other car is a R34 Skyline, I've replaced all the hoses on it so have a few spares kicking around. I'll have a look under the bonnet when the rain, sleet and snow stops.
