Hi,

I was looking at buying a TD4 today (03 plate 19,000 miles). Everthing was just dandy, full Service History e.t.c e.t.c...But something really put me off.....Installed in the middle of the dash were 3 gauges, boost pressure, oil temp and oil pressure. Can anybody offer me any advice on why someone would have installed such things ? My worry is that it's an indicator of the car being used full time for towing heavy stuff especially since the milage is pretty low for the year. Is it something that I should worry about even if it has ?

Thanks (and hello, since this is my first post!)

Hi, it all depends who owned the car before. I remember when I was (much) younger I had also a rev counter, oil pressure and oil temp. gauges installed in my Manta A 1.6S, together with my brother in law we did such gimmicks, he could get these items at a very interesting price and as cars were our "dada".... Didn't do any foolish things with the car but just liked these meters installed.

To be honest they looked cool and they seemed to work ! I just get scared choking up good money (9k) for a car that has been beaten to within an inch of it's life ! But another part of me thinks if they were caning it / boy racer types it wouldn't have a full stealer service history......and how much serious damage can you do in 19k miles......it seemed to drive ok :)
