I have a set of 4 boost alloys. They are the dark grey 'tomb raider' ones - chap i bought them off took them off a disco 2, i think.

These have the landrover oval in the casting on the rear.

Anyhow, i purchased one more wheel - this time a silver one, used.

Its got "LANDROVER" in the casting on the back, but its not the oval - just the word. Says "made in italy" but, IIRC (im at work at the moment) so do the tomb raider ones.

Id rather they were all the same, but i guess they will be so close as there wont be any issue using them on the same axel.

Anyone know if this silver one is genuine or aftermarket?

Not sure, tbh,

Will be interesting to see what info you get back.

But regarding you "thinking" they came off a D2, what are you planning on putting them on?

Cheers

Genuine LR wheels will have the part number cast inside the wheel, along with the rim size in width and fitting diameter.

Boost wheels were for the D1 and Defender, I don't think the D2 had them on the option list, plus D1/Defender and D2 are different wheel fitting, they are not compatible.

May not have come off a d2,at all then - no way to confirm.

I want to put them on a 110, which boost alloys are good for.

D2 wheels are a much smaller stud pattern PCD compared with a Defender or D1.

Visually they are easy to identify, but the casting number will tell you which one it is.

Dont worry - ive had the wheels on my 300tdi disco without issue

(they came with tyres fitted, but the wrong size tyres for the 110 - rather than waste them, i drove them on the D1 till they wore)

Im pretty sure the tomb raider ones had a weight on the casting, but im not sure as i saw the same on the silver one.

Ill check better tonight.

seems i have some photos of my tomb raider ones on line -

and then the silver one from the ebay seller auction -

not that ive checked, but he said the part was marked with "7JX16ETH2 -ET33"

Part number on the back of the silver one is -

RRC503400XXX

Craddock etc. have the part number of boosts as RRC503400MNH - i wonder if the last three letters are somthing to do with the finish?

Yes, all LR parts which have a specific finish, like wheels, interior trim etc have those coding letters after the number.

I think MNH is Silver Sparkle.

As I suspected, it is D1 and Defender fitting.

Ive got the code off the black ones now -

rrc110870

which also comes up as genuine landrover boose alloy

(but is clearly a different number!)

RRC110870RHO is pewter bright tubless
RRC110870MNH is Sculptured duo tone pewter diamond tubless

Both are listed in the D1 parts book fitted to the 98MY, but LR don't give them a name so not call "Boost", RRC503400XXX at not listed also not listed in the my RRc parts book.
It appears that Boost is a name used for Defender wheel, if your that interested in names check that it out.

So, the bottom line is that theyre the same item, right? Ie could be mixed on the same axel.

Still seems odd that the casting is different, if only to change the numbers.
