Boost alloy query (not the usual one)

Any one know when these where introduced as I have a set on my '88 tratter (second hand obviously) and one of the General Grabbers has perished and cracked even though there's still 6mm of tread on it and two others have started to spider web on the outer side walls, I'm guessing that these are the original tyres.

I'm interested how old they are cos if I replace the tyre with a BFG mud terrain how long will that last before that to perishes, as in will the tyre perish before the tread gets to low??

think the tires have date stamps on them?

They should have a four digit number stamped on them somewhere. It will be week and year of manufacture so 0410 would be 4th week 2010

The thing I'm pondering is

A) Have they been stuck in someones shed for years and that's what caused them to perish, which as they are boost's I wouldn't have thought likely.

B) If I buy BFG muds are these going to be perished before I've worn them out

Please can you tell me how have you worked that out, all the photos are from the same wheel just from different 'spokes' of the alloy

Tyres have to be dated. And that law has been around for 15 -20 yrs.
Look again, it'll only be on one side of the tyre and may be on the inside sidewall.

I had a set from 2001 and they wear showing signs of age cracking (unsurprisingly) with well over 3/4 of the rubber remaining.

I don't think that retreads have to conform to the labelling system, and the depth of the label on the tyre in the pic looks like a retread to me?

So the alloys are 10 years old - If it helps I had a set of BFG AT's on a set of alloys (after market) that had been on them for 8 years and there was no sign at all of any cracking or perishing.

Here is the date stamp on my spare general grabber TR. Clearly never used and no signs of age cracking yet. Stamped on the non-whitewalled number side as '5000'. Week 50 in 2000. Makes it 14 odd years old. Not bad going really.

Thanks for that, it would appear that two of the three dated 10/04 are perished but bizarrely the one dated 45/03 is fine??

Just order a pair of BFG muds for £132 a piece, then work my way round to the other pair in a few weeks
