Anyone ever cut away the two rounded flanges on the bodywork in between the sprung housing (to which the cable is attached) and the manually operated catch? I want to get the assembly out to repair the cable and it looks to me as though cutting out those two bits would give me room to manoeuvre it out. People say take the front bumper off but i just don't want to.

Not tried anything other than remove the bumper. The latch assembly is well hidden for security reasons.

I'm sure I've read posts/threads on here about how to do it without removing the bumper. Try a search.

I don't see why land rover would make it so inaccessible Once the bonnet is closed it is actually easy enough to get a hook and manipulate the lever mechanism to pop the bonnet through the front grill. I'm going to stick my neck out here and say I think the whole assembly should have been top mounted so that the removal of two bolts would have lifted the whole thing out. Anyway, I may have sorted it after a great deal of fiddling.
