Freelander 2 (LR2) Bonnet alarm

1. Pop the bonnet and remove the drivers side headlamp unit.
2. Close the bonnet and lock the car.
3. Locate the bonnet switch; it's up there under the bonnet latch.
4. Like me you'll probably find the lightest touch on the bonnet switch will set your alarm off, or the horn will go off when you try to lock the car.
5. Remove the plug from the back of the switch assembly (fiddly)
6. Depress the two recessed lugs on the front of the switch assembly and remove it (fiddly)
7. Mine was full of road dust / mud / whatever. I cleaned it with MAF cleaner 'cos I had some left over.
8. I then opened the spring so it stood a little bit proud of the top of the switch assembly.
9. Reassemble back to bullet point 4. The alarm should NOT go off when you wiggle the switch assembly.
10. Refit the headlamp unit.
11. Wonder how long your fix will last.

I've been plagued with the alarm going off occasionally when I leave the car locked. Having narrowed down the problem to the bonnet switch I decided to have a look-see and fix it.
