Bolt size for front half shaft

Now then
Can anyone of you tell me the size bolt I need to put in the front halt shaft to measure the end play please as I can't find the size. And also the tap I need to re thread the hub shaft bolt holes.

you dont really need to measure the end float , just use one of the drive member bolts to pull out cv as much as you can and fit enough shims that still allow circlip to fit, exactness isnt important often as not shims get lost and it all still works as it should

Excellent question, thanks for posting, I was just at this stage and had lost the thinnest of shims of a pair on the near side. Now I know what to do. Thanks for the answers aswell.

untill recently I didnt even know it SHOULD have shims, ive been driving it for 2 years with no shims and god knows how long it was before that.
