Hey all, tried to search, but searcing from my phone, can't get results!I want to repair 2 dents in my front fender, have 2k paint mixed to spray with, what tips do you have prepping the fender and spraying it?thanks in advance!

what would you like to know? im a bit of a jack of all trades lol, been repairing salvage for years.

key things are to key the area ready for filler, ie scotchpad or a bit of 1200 etc, run your hand over area tap in any high spots, apply your filler sand and prime, if its a flat ish are use a block with the paper to get it flat, use the 2k primer it dries solid, quite a few layers thick doesnt hurt, wet flat the primer back with a block, i tend to use an old bit of 500 for it but you can use 800 etc, then key the whole panel with a scotch and water or 1200 and water, i use ajax vim powder etc with water and a scotch, it cleans the area well, then wash of clean with sponge dry the area and panel wipe the whole area to be painted, are you using base coat and clear or solid?

I trust that you are fully conversant with the use ,and hazards associated with the use of 2k paints and primers .They are toxic and can be a hazard
to ones health if not used properly .

One main one being ISOCYANATE POISONING.

i own a joiners shop and spray unit, my yearly spraying of 2part paints and varnish is very limited by law, a normal mask and filter set is not enough to protect from spray mist, it is well worth investing in a good quality mist system, with change of filters every 20 mins , even when working outside.
as for filling the wings etc, was well described above, the rougher the better under the filler to key it well, then finish hardened filler and surrounding area well with fine wet and dry, folowed by high build primer

Thanks alot everyone!I am from South Africa, the bodyfiller I use is a localy produced one, have read a lot about 2k paint so I am aware of the dangers thanks!Want to learn more about bodywork and spraypainting etc. so will use this repair as a learning curve!

the best way to learn is to do it , make a mess of it and do it again, as above, etch primer is best on ally and galvanised, unless its weathered,
