I'm back... Plans changed more than slightly.. I have sold the boat and changed my job!

I didn't get as much for the boat as it was worth but I guess money is in short supply for many. I'm happy with the deal as I managed to px the boat for a very well looked after 1997 4.6 HSE in silver, and get enough cash on top to sort out some minor niggles..

Advice needed on the following:

Bonnet has been damaged by what looks like brake fluid.. Does anyone know where to get matching metallic silver paint from? or should I source another bonnet? there's no rust or dents on current one.

Keyfob needs replacing.. I understand that main dealer is only option? I have no numbers on current fob. Any idea how much this will cost please?

Front pax door doesn't respond to remote locking and the same door window sounds like it keeps on winding even once it's closed or fully open?

Like I said minor niggles IMO... any help appreciated in advance.. Thanks

Muzzy

Replace the bonnet. Repray is likely to be expensive and if you try to patch it in it will show however hard you try
Stealer will want 120/130 for a fob and will need VIN number, can take a while as they have to come from Germany.
Take the door trim off and have a look mght be simple job. but sounds like you need a new winder mechanism teeth have quit.

What is wrong with the FOB you have? Buttons can be replaced.

That's good news thanks... It is just the buttons missing!

The repair kit will make your P38 key fob look like new!

The kit includes:

1 x button cover
1 x battery cover
2 x batteries
Prices - standard postage.

1 kit - £16.51 (inc VAT & Postage) In Stock....

Sorted.... Great thumbs up

Sounds like a new window regulator needed. Got mine from Island 4x4 at about £25. You will need to drill out rivets to get it off the door and separate from motor and will then need a riveter to reassemble and fit.

I'm too lazy to shop around but I will learn!

As Wammer said...you must shop around with a P38. Quick example: the level sensor for the screen wash bottle is about £25 new from LR; when they come up, prices on eBay for second hand ones can be £30+...

Lots of people seem to think RR owners are rolling in cash and stupid - we may be the latter but the former isn't true for most with Classics and P38's.

Always check places like Paddocks, Island 4x4 and so on, and even check LR prices (although generally they are ridiculous but I've been pleasantly surprised a couple of times) before buying mechanical bits from "specialist" breakers.

Some are good value; but many are happy to try their arm at ripping off the punters...which can only happen if the punters are happy to be fleeced.
