the 10 amp fuse keeps blowing which affects rev counter, speedo and fuel gauge. also the battery goes flat within a day been ok up to now.
any any ideas where the short maybe??

no need to shout

even us oldies dont need glasses to read that!

Try introducing yourself, say "Hi" and then ask in the Disco section.

After disconnecting yo alternator.

Hi, welcome to LZ... about 80% of the forum members have reasonable hearing (except when driving Series, but, we tend not to use LZ whilst driving) so there isn't any need to shout :)

We also have a "Introduction Section" which is worth posting in to say hi and say who you are... it's the generally accepted polite thing to do on the forum and some members will get quite knarkered off if you don't.

With regards to your problem, I would initially recommend disconnecting the battery when not in use to prevent it going flat.

Does it still go flat after the fuse has blown? If so the short is pre-fuse-box, it could suggest a damaged section of the loom affecting both the rev counter, etc. and the pre-fuse-box wiring.

Are you competent with a multimeter? That's going to be your easiest route to a solution i'm afriad

why don't you post the same question numerous times ?

oops my mistake, you already did that !

As for what could cause it, it is almost certainly more current being passed through the fuse that it can handle.

good luck

Had a similar problem in my fender once. One of the indicators was filling with water when it rained, so when I used that side, it popped the fuse and took out the gauges. I bought a set of all 8 lighte from eBay, no problems since. Discos may be different though.
