hi all

has anybody had any problems with there blowers popping the fuse all the time. it says it uses a 10amp but keeps popping them, i tryed a 20amp an it was fine but i dont like overloading the blower. anybody have any ideas what could be the problem?

cheers

Ben

it could be a sign that the motor is failing, as it fails, it requires more 'effort' to turn the motor. this will draw more current and result in blowing fuses, or it could be a poor earth.

with a multy meter set to read current draw you could measure the demand from your blower, when the motor starts it will demand the most current.

with the higher amp fuse in does the motor sound laboured or does the air feel slow? all these could be pointersto the fault..

Whatever the problem is go and take that 20A fuse out! It`s been rated at 10A for a reason, you start putting bigger fuses in and it`s the wiring that now becomes the "safety element". Wiring doesn`t blow like a fuse, it gets hot and goes on fire. Trust me i`ve seen it before in many cars.

the motor dosnt sound laboured, air blows through fine. just hope i can get it sorted in time for the winter, i hear there rubish but id rather have a lil heat than nothing at all :D

if memory serves, there is a small 3 pin connecter hidden away near the motor, measure the resistance between the earth pin and a known good earth, this should give you an idea. i have found that sometimes the connectors themselves can corrode, so clean the contacts while you check it all.

i definately agree with the fuse replacement, definately take the 20 out, better to have no heat for a short while than destry your pride and joy,
