Bloody wires on my 309TDi

Okay here it goes...

My internal courtesy lamp has 3 wires, a purple, purple and red trace (I think) and black. I also appear to have door switches on each door, which are wired with the black and purple wires. Unfortunately it would appear they don't work when the doors are opened. There's no internal switch like some models. I could fit one but would rather the courtesy light came on automatically when opening the door, this way I could fit a buzzer to warn me that I had left the lights on when exiting the landy.

Any ideas!!

Please ignore the title, it's not a 309TDI its a more simple 300TDI (Joys of using an iPhone with fat fingers!!!)

Sounds like you need to spend a couple of hours with a voltage tester. Strange you've got no manual switch though. What switches are there by the door on the small panel where the hazard warning switch is?

Same Problem - Not Resolved...

I *think* the wires disappear into the security unit ( which had been bypassed before I got the vehicle) and this linked into an alarm system.
As the security system is disabled it appears that the light has gone the same way.

(I have checked voltages and continuity but no luck so far)

Sorry don't know an easy fix.

There's a blank, hazards and rear screen demister.

As far as can work out there should be a Purple with a blue trace running from the door switch directly to the lamp, I should then have a black earth and a purple which is fuse fed, I suspect this should be a permanent live. If this sounds about right Im just going to rig a new set up.

Sounds like the switch may have broke and the previous owner just disconnected it. Whip the panel off and see if the wires are behind it. I assume that 300tdi's have the switch in the same place as my old 19j
