So why have my O'rings just started to weep 6 days after fitting new ones
You didn't clean up the mating surfaces well enough, they are poor quality O rings, or the screw is not tight enough. So why have my O'rings just started to weep 6 days after fitting new ones
Best use a socket head screw, then you can get it really tight.Yes I think iv not tightened it up enough been out and bought a new screw for it it was just starting to slip as I was tightening it all up was pretty tight though
Correctly fitted and seated O ring rings dont need any pressure or squash to seal. If yours are leaking they are not seating right. Over torquing the screw will just crack the casing leading to the mother of all repairs - the matrix removal....
Or of course you could get over zelous with a pad saw when cutting the air duct to get access to said O rings.............

They can draw air in but also there is a loss of pressure and pressure is what stops the water boiling. Can I just say that I found the whole job of replacing my heater matrix O'rings not that big a deal abit fiddly but really easy but as I started I found it had been done before but had to enlarge the hole in the panel a little,it did drip a tad but my screwdriver did slip cos it was worn so went and got a newone and one more turn and it fine no drips in nearly 2 weeks, one question though can the leaky seals pull air in cos they didnt leak much beforw I started and I was getting overheats'but since doinh them no temperature rises at all rock solid even im heavy traffic jams, guna sort mh lpg problem next
