Now it's £81.54 - £10.00 = £71.54, excellent.

Ahh, I didn't know about the cp10less code ;)

They have some real bargains now and again. I got my battery last week even cheaper than this (Bosch s5) paid the £4 delivery and it arrived at 9am next morning! It worked out half the price of eurocarparts!

FFS, just had a bloke knock on the door asking if I owned a Land Rover. Obviously I said yes.

He replied, did you know your rear seat courtesy light was on ?

OK, you know the rest and hopefully now you've all stopped laughing :D

At least I don't need a new battery !

My daughter flicked on the rear light on my old v6 vectra, while we were camping in the trailer tent. I looked like a rite tit pushing that round the site trying to bump it!

Live and learn mate.

Yep, defo. Wish now I'd put my Fluke in series when I put the charged battery back in today. Would've seen the current draw

Feel like a damned fool !

(I had a V6 Vectra, had it chipped too, used to fly !)

Ah well mate, you know for next time. Yeah mine used to shift, even with 400kg of trailer tent on the back.

hiya

my battery died last year and called the AA out, they put a new battery on there and everything was fine until the other day, i hadnt used the car for about 3 days and the new battery was dead.

rang them up and saying i wanted a new battery, they came out and was going to just jump start it, i advised him well what happens tommorow when it is flat again

well after about 30 mins of him coming out with excuses like, i have to use my car more at least every other day as my mileage last year was 1,500 miles ( as im disabled and use it as a lifeline) , after me politely saying bollocks to him he then decided to replace the battery, as he pulled the battery out it had on it 60 amps, i then realised they had put a petrol one in when in fact ive got a TD4,

he then put a 75 amp battery in.

sorry its such a long winded question but wished to give you the story behind it.

surely it should keep its charge for a week or so before going dead or longer, for him to tell me that i needed to use it more and also had to go at least 10 miles to charge it.

he put all the meters on the car and the alternator is fine.

i think he was coming out with as many excuses he could find, instead of wasting time and just replace it.

he changed it free of charge and i also later on that day rang up the AA and cancelled my membership and went with green flag, as i was so mad that only 9 months earlier i shelled out £100.00 for them to supply and fit a new one and then have to fight to get it replaced under warrenty, also they advised me its only covered for 1 year as if i want the 3 year warrenty i have to get the full breakdown service

im going to buy another battery this year, like a bosch etc, may i ask what are the best ones to get, will go to halfords etc so they can fit it for me.

sorry ive gassed so much but as you guys also have the freelanders what would you how long you could leave your car before the battery going flat.

thanks so much guys and sorry once again for such a long winded post

Gary, you will pay through nose for a Halfords battery. Please look earlier in this thread for a battery from carpart4less. I realise you are disabled, but they are so easy to fit, by maybe your neighbour. Where do you live ?

(Prior to this episode of leaving a light in, I have left cars for up to 2 months (whilst abroad) and they have started).

hi

thanks guys, will check them out, i live in swanley kent, my son has moved out and hardly see him.

just cant lift the bloody things anymore due to having more pins in my back than the 4th bridge, really annoying and frustrating seeing i useto be an active heating engineer.

thanks again and going to buy one around the june, july time as i bet when the cold weather comes again this battery will screw up

ive looked on the AA battery and cant see the actual manufacturer of it, suppose its a cheap pile of crap

my FL has now done 176,000 miles and really like it, if the unfortunate thing happened with the engine would buy another second hand engine as due to its age and mileage it wouldnt be worth much now, but has been a terrific car to me and great to drive.

its an auto and due to my back being damaged it has affected my left hand side and leg, so handy ive got an auto.

i get the engine oil changed every year but only done 1500 miles but for the sake of £60 just like to look after it the best i can

as i imagine a 2004 low mileage model would cost around the 4 grand mark and simply wouldnt be able to afford that kind of money now

in the event that the engine or gearbox screwed up i imagine i could get a secondhand engine and auto gearbox for about 1,000 and it would then be like a new car again

all the best

I was born and bred in Gillingham, Kent and visit my Brother there, infrequently. Suggest you STRONGLY consider getting a battery now, at todays much discounted prices and keep it in the house. As stated above, earlier in the thread, carpartsless have the Bosch S5 (Silver) battery for the Freelander for just over £70. This is superb value.

I'll fit it for you on the way through sometime.

Hiya

Thanks for such a wonderful offer and not often there are nice people out there in the world , apart from land rover owners who always seem to help another

Unfortuantly I cannot afford to buy one for at least a few months as my car insurance , mot is coming up

Then would like to get a mpg monitor first as I then see acurately what my FL is doing then get my battery

I've done the usual mods, egr bypass, tuning box, bmw crankcase filter etc

It would just be a great thing to plug one in and seeing it working before spending out on one

Once again I cannot thank you enough for the fantastic offer of helping me with the battery

Gary

I use a red top Optima in ours, no problems reported. Battery is 1/2 the size of the original, whiuch is now in my wifes sons Golf and performing well.

Can you take a picture of the battery in yours please mate? I'm tempted to do it with mine, but I need to see how it fits for size, I have a few "extras" I want to put in the tray aswel.
