just got back from going to pick up my new 2003 range rover vogue this afternoon, got to the dealers and their she was all shiny and standing to attention :D The dealer explains to me all the work has been complete, full service, new front pads and discs and a few other bits have been done, i thought great! i can take my new car away  Got in the car to take it for a quick test drive before making the final payment. I start the car after a few turns on the key, it started first time last time i test drove it! (first problem!) Next I noticed that the engine had now started to idle very high (900 rpm, should be around 600rpm) (second problem!) Then I drove the car out of the dealership got about 100 yards and a loud clicking/tapping sounds starts coming from the rear offside wheel area (third problem!) then limped back to the dealership on engine idle and got told by the dealer that the rear entertainment system they had supposed to have fixed is broken and cant be fixed!! (forth problem!) at this point i was steaming :mad::mad: we go into the dealership to discuss the deal and I made it clear to the dealer i was extremely disappointed with the problems that the car has now developed since I was last there (these didn't exist last time I test drove the car!) so the first bit of good news of the day the dealer said he is going to put right and fix all the identified problems and give me a new £1200 rear entertainment system and a full tank or petrol :D So going back next friday to try and collect it again! Hopefully it will be all fixed and back to normal.

From the symptoms described above about the engine and the clicking/tapping noise does anyone have any idea what these could be?? it would be very much appreciated

Thanks

Matt

Work experience day for the local 6th form? Engine probs could be minor glitch, or ?? Was tapping from wheel there from getgo, or only start after a bit of driving? Was it speed related? i.e. faster slower with road speed?

No as soon as i started moving, it started making the noise but the quicker i went the louder the noise but by the time i had turned around and gone back to the dealership (after about 5 minutes) it was even doing it just on engine tick over I ended up just letting the range rover get back to the dealer on the acceleration from just having the car in drive as I didn't want to accelerate as the more i accelerated the worst it got. it seemed to make it worst when i went round a corner, if that helps.

As they'd done the Discs & Pads ..it sounds like a loose Pad Shim...

Thanks for the reply but they haven't changed the rear pads only the front ones (sorry forgot to mention that). I was looking on another site where a range rover sport had what sounded like a very similar problem with the clicking at the rear and they said it could have something to do with the suspension, does this sound possible?? thanks
