Hi,

I was poking about under the truck today, having a look at how I would go about repairing the rear diff nose oil seal. In an earlier thread, I was told to check the axle breather. The breather seems to have a cap on it, but there is no tube coming out, like on my front one. The cap does not appear to move and seems pretty well caked in mud and dirt.

Anyone got any advice on how I go about cleaning it up and should it be disassembled at all to make sure it works. By the way it's a 90 NAD.

Cheers

Unscrew it and soak in parafin before cleaning with on old toothbrush.
You cant take them apart but new ones are not that expensive.
As far as I know they have a ball and spring arangement inside the cap.
Alternatively fit a remote breather like you front axle has and route the pipe up under the rear wheel arch as hig as you can get.
