When ever my Series 2a stands for a few days, I have to manually pump fuel in to the carb as it seems to recede down the line. The pump is fine, and once running it never cuts out. (2.25 Petrol!)

It sounds like it needs a non-return valve of some sort... any one else have this issue?

It should not be bleeding back like that - sounds like the valves in the pump are dodgy. Might be worth rebuilding or replacing the fuel pump.

is the carburettor bowl emptying itself completely over a few days, or is this a case of start/run a few seconds/shut down and crank like hell till it refills?

ajr

I'm selling a new Facet carb pump if its of any use ;) brand new in box with all the fixings

Only selling as I need a larger one to cope with the 454 chevy

Is that electric?

It's emptying the bowl completely. I suspected the valve in the pump, but as I'm quite new to Land Rovers I was wondering if it was just another 'quirk'

£25 then as it's second hand? ;) Joke...

I just went to the boxes and boxes of spares that came with the Land Rover, and there's 2 pumps! Think I'll buy the £5 service kit and rebuild one.
