Ok came back from a trip and traverlin down to devon on friday she drove like a dream 200+ miles when returning today on motoway going down an incine at bout 70mph the auto box dropped down a gear [never done that before] then after that seemed to loose power and black smoke pourin out of exhaust , limped it back home ,gonna have a look in the morning, any idea's afore i get started, lets see who get the closest. . . .

Yep!
I'd go for a split hose. hopefully!
That could be why the box changed down if it picked up a change in air flow, thought you were decelerating??
maybe?? possibly?? donno????

Yep full marks ta Mondo and Willo split air inlet hose full of oil ,goin down ta get parts now, will also change the engine breathe filter that Mondo and WILLO WERE ON ABOUT i will let ya know how it go's after ive done it. . .:)

Ok fitted slit turbo hose [also cleaned all the ****e out] fitted the small plastic air filter at rear of air filter cover[easy peasey] then did the Mondo de compresion filter, not that easy ,however can recomend doing it as mine was completley blocked, and yes about £25 ,however took it for a test drive ,and yep back ta normall , i did take pictures of the whole procedure so if ya beg me i will do a write up with snags ta watch out for,but ya gonna have ta beg real good earthlings. . . .:)

Bit of a relief for yer then ming!

bet you were thinkin allsorts had gone wrong:D
Na not really, but tell ya wot i did think, when i was puttin the filter back i found it very difficult to locate that sliding bit, and i thought wonder if Mondo got that bit jammed, as that would give you your black smoke [just a thought]. . .

Yes, please PLEASE PLEEZ pleez s'il vous plâit, alstublieft ..... give us some pics. of the procedure you followed, looks as that black plastic thing I indicated with a yellow arrow in my msge seems to be tricky or what ??:) :) :)

In return I'll tell you a story the chief mechanic told me today while I picked up the part, he said it's dangerous to start driving with BIODIESEL as one needs completely new lines for that since the biodiesel eats up all the rubber joints etc.. of the actual lines ? A transport company went towards Biodiesel on all their trucks he said and all of them, one after the other got leaks in their fuelsystem because of that ???

Ok Willo my man,as ya begged so nicely i might even give yer pics as well, truth is there are a few things ta be carefull about , so i will reveal all, as for the bio yes its true and well documented that bio will attack rubber joints, good news is the freelander has all rot proof fuel parts IE neoprene and other compounds, and a Bosch pump [high pressure] and both low pressure pump are capable ,the only weak point is the rear pump, that struggles with just diesel,so let me see if i can figure out how to do your basic computer photo's earthling, its like going back in time. . .:D :) :)

Ok hope the pics work, so Willo just for you, take orft engine cover, undo the air filter cover [the two bolts at the rear are a pain] undo the yello oil filler cap[make sure you dont drop anything inside] and remove the air filter cover[put yellow cap back on]this is so ya dont drop any thing in it,remove the wiring loom[ three self tapers] and move to one side , undo the four allan bolts that hold the de- compresion valve and lift it out,ok at this point if you find its jamming on way up ,it could be hitting the bleed off pipes, if it is ,pull out the metal caption pin on the injector[dont forget to put it back on later]ok ya might have to do 2,lift it out , put in new filter + seal + new gasket, re assemble by reverse logic , and make sure you put the metal pins back. on 2nd pic 1=the de compresion valve 2=wiring loom. . .:)
