It is the bmw mod , that does away with the filter , price is for the plastc oil separator insert only , you can clean the upper half of the pcv housing with white spirit

The one I linked to on ebay has everything- the housing and cyclone. You just click buy it now and fit it when it comes. It totally replaces the current PCV. I am not the seller btw, but I did buy that one.

They were never fitted to the Land Rover engine but it is the same engine and it works. If you are not that mechanically minded then this is then easiest and quickest way- buy the one I linked to.

Ok thanks spacemonkey just wasn't sure cos link at bottom had all different models for different engines. Ill get it ordered.

hello all am back i fitted new PVC and new BMW cyclone it has stopped smoking a lot just bit smoke on idle. but then i drive it there is a lot of smoke out the back the freelander has power so i don't think its the turbo, any other advice and help people.

Check the inter cooler hoses for splits, usually the long one on the left hand side of the engine looking from the front. The hose often rubs through on the bracket on the inlet manifold.

i have had every pipe off and all are ok. could there be an injector faulty as the engine is running a bit ruff and vibrating.

If its black smoke then I'd say yes to an injector. When you say it's running rough...does it ever sound as though it is misfiring( a tappy raspy sound ) that clears if you rev the engine?
Also it may be worth cleaning the fuel rail pressure sensor plug and socket.
Lastly has it been using any oil recently?

the freelander has been of the road for over a year so its just been sitting there cos i got told it was the turbo with me starting new job never had time to sort it out. the smoke is like a grey/ blue, when its idling it vibrates and dose sound like its missing once i rev it its all normal. the power is there just the bits i explained is the problem.

Right so once reved it clears it's throat so to say and runs ok?
That sounds like an injector possibly starting to go u/s.......you could try running some injector cleaner through it ....but as said clean the fuel rail pressure sensor plug and socket as these can get ****ty and cause bad running.
Also there was an updated harness for the pressure sensor which replaces the existing one as it has been known to become contaminated and cause similar issues.
I'd also keep an eye on the oil level just I case you possibly damaged the turbo seals as when they fully go it would cause the engine to run away........hence if your not really using any oil from week to weekl (they all use a bit) your turbo is probably ok.

Rite guys think i found the problem of the smoke coming from turbo area. Just took of the air filter just managed get my hand dow the back, feel for lose pipes give them a little wobble see if any lose and there is one that's not on? Its half inch wide pipe must go onto turbo or something but there is no room to get pliers on to clip get pipe on any idea how i might gain access to re connect it. Thanks

could be the breather pipe that reinjects "de-oiled" air into the inlet tubing
try going in from the wheel arch

rite think i got carried away with that pipe that was off, the pipe goes into the air box at the back just below the air filter then goes on to something else the pipe is half inch and about 7inch long its a curved pipe if that helps. there is no clips on either end so not shore if it even suppose have them the pipe had bit oil in it to.. it seems like most of the pipes have some sort of oil in them, dose anyone have link or can help me out with were the pipes go to and from the turbo and best ways to excess them. when she is on idle there is just normal smoke from the back like a grey color but under load she smokes quite a bit out the back and there is no power loss. don't suppose there is anyone close to the north west skelmersdale area who will be kind to have a look at here? i appreciate all the help.

Sounds like ti could be the source of your problem, but I have no idea what it is as I have not spent much time poking around down there.
