I painted up and fitted my new Blacksheep Offroad recovery point this weekend. My Td5 wont be used for any kind of tough off roading but there is a chance that I may need to either be pulled or pull someone else (light recovery). As I didn't want a rear tow bar and my chassis isn't strengthened to fit jate rings on the rear I decided to ask Pressbrake on here to make me a rear recovery point to bolt on. Here's the result. I'm very impressed.

Here's the result

Here's a few I lifted from Black Sheeps facebook page of my actual one being made

I wasn't aware the chassis needed strengthening for jade rings. I have one on the front

My MoD 110 is strengthened front and back. There's a pipe welded inside the chassis where the jate rings pass through. My Td5 is only strengthened on the front holes. I don't think it would take much to damage the chassis without that extra strength.

I could be wrong but the rear jate ring points are strengthened as std with a tube in the chassis as the fixed towbar also fixes to the same point, and if the rear has the tube good money on the front being the same.

They certainly aren't strengthened on the back of my 2005 110. I inspected very carefully before going down this route.

The tubes you are talking about are crush tubes, Original LR chassis have them, however if you pulled a rear cross member from Paddocks it wont. Very few replacement chassis parts have the crush tubes, however they are essential.

Its a bit of a scare one really as there are a lot of folk out there towing/recovering against 3mm Chassis plate, or if its rusted 1.5.

If your chassis isn't strengthened for Jate rings what is that chunk of metal pulling/pushing against ? It should be SWEARING(NM) against the chassis tight. Which would collapse if you didn't have the tubes.
