Bit of confirmation needed..

I've noticed a puddle in the drivers footwell recently and opened the bonnet today to see a sudden lack of coolant with no 'obvious' signs of leakage anywhere.

Would I be right in assuming that the heater matrix has kicked the bucket?

It's a 300tdi if it helps.

Forgot to mention there's a bit of a funny smell inside the car too.

Yeah matrix - if it was me i would join the matrix input/return pipes in the engine bay for now and worry about fixing the matrix later on in the summer.
