morning, long shot but does anyone from north yorkshire know of any outlets for wvo biodiesel? fuel is crippling my business and need an alternative. cant buy a eco car as i need to get up into woodlands to thin and fell so its disco power all the way. guy used to do it on hunmanby but from what i can see hes stopped doing it now and driffields minimum order is 1000ltrs

now this will probably stir things up a bit but you can do it this way.

buy biodiesl heating oil, then when you get it home, change your mind and decide to use it in your disco.

you will probably have to buy 200l min at a time but you should be able to get it for under £1.00 per L as there is no road fuel duty paid on it.

get a book and make a note of when you "changed" it to a road fuel and the qty.

don't use more than 2500l in the last 12 months, the supplyer will have records to protect them and if hmrc see you buying loads when they check the suppliers records they will pay you a visit and it will be game up.

when up to your limit you can still buy duty paid biodiesel.

you could also buy svo from bookers or costco, 20l currently £18.99 & £17.99 respectivly i would only run 50/50 during current temps with maybe 5% unleaded.

Yep good guys at Greenworld.

There's also Spen Valley biodiesel in Bradford.

If you buy heating oil as above dont forget to set aside the money for HMRC and send it at the 12 month stage.

no need if you keep under 2500L per rolling 12 months,

I have an e-mail from tony baxter who is the top man in the fuels dept that says if you buy heating bio and then decided to use it as a fuel its the same as buying svo (food) and then using that as a fuel,

when you decide to change its use from heating oil to a road fuel you are deemed to have become a "producer of fuel" and need to record the qty and date.

by "producing" less then 2500l in any previous 12 months you are classed as an "exempt producer" and don't have to pay duty.

The ^^^^ wasn't my understanding, I understood you had to make your own biodiesel to be classed as a producer, and were then entitled to your 2500L.
Noted it's similar to buying SVO in a supermarket.

Would be nice to see a copy of the Email saying different though.
