Does anyone know, and (more importantly) can recommend anywhere in the Burnley sort of area that does Bio Diesel:confused: Was thinking about trying to save myself a few quid, but obviously don't want to be putting cr*p in my Landy, cheers in advance for any help.

nearest one ive heard of is in rochdale
do they not do a search thingamabob like they do for lpg????

Thats the thing mate, I've heard of/seen a couple of places, but was hoping for a reccomendation, read a few threads on here with things like, such and such place is Cr*p, or this place is good, so was hoping for some first hand experience.:confused:, have also asked around at work, but no-one seems to use the stuff.

did you look on the places that were recommended to you grimmer, one of them is in burnley/blackburn area.might be worth a try of a few gallons.

At the risk of sounding/being stupid :dnfnoob:, whats the worst that can happen "trying a couple of gallon", it's a 300Tdi if that makes any difference. I mean I've got half a tank of pump diesel at the min, if I put say 1/4 of a tank of Bio on top of that will I be alright even if it's cr*p?

i think you had better wait for a more informed answer.there will be others on here better qualified to answer your question, try redhand or ratty, they might know.

Hi Grimmer

300tdi's are pretty robust when it comes to using veg oil/bio diesel.

While the weather is still good your landy should run fine on even the crappest of bio. When it gets colder and the oil begins to thicken, thats when the quality begins to show up. To be honest, You would be btter popping into your local supermarket and buying their 86p a litre rapeseed oil and slinging it straight in. About 60-70% svo (even in winter) is what I used to run my 300tdi on. Make sure that it's 100% rapeseed oil. Steer well clear of those that aren't 100% as they contain anti-foaming agents that according to what's been found on the net are extemely abrasive to your engine.

Thanks a lot Gents, on a slightly different note is the used oil lark as easy as it sounds:confused::confused: i.e. talk nicely to bloke in Chippy/kebab house, get lots of used oil, filter it, bung it in tank 50/50 with diesel, and Bob's your aunties live in lover?? Does it matter what type/brand of oil?? I'm thinking of trying this route as well. I understand the changing the fuel filter more often, but is it REALLY that simple??

My personal opinion is that I won't touch wvo. Waste vege oil from chip shops has anti-foaming agents in it to stop the fat overflowing when CHIPPIES:p:p:p are added. I also don't like the idea of possibly having water in with it.

Most chippies use filter envelopes which they may let you have a couple of to filter the larger particles out if you decide to go that route. I would only use WVO if I was going the whole hog and making my own propper bio fuel. I can get my hands on around 50 litres of WVO a week free but I've never touched the stuff.
