big dilemna, sell or not?

hi all
i have had my rangie for over 12 years, its just sailed through its mot, yet again, recently i have fitted a new air pump, air springs, 4 new michelins, radiator, water pump, front and rear brake pads,
i cannot have a newer rangie, because they have moved the ignition switch to the centre console, which is awkward to reach(for me).
on the sport, the window switches are on the door card, which means i have to let go of the steering wheel to open or shut the windows.
do i keep mine and wait for something to go wrong that would cost more than its worth, or buy some other run of the mill car like a merc 320ml?

Surely you can go to experienced auto leccy and have a push button start fitted somewhere .

Keep it, it will go on for ever if you keep fixing all the niggly problems, there is not much to compare with it for comfort.

You'll only regret selling it if you do

You're answering your own question. What's wrong with it? What would you replace it with?
If that's not enough just price up the work that you've listed on a new Rangie or a Merc - mortgage money.

If you must do something then get it professionally valeted and enjoy the admiring looks again.

motability, reckon that they can not alter it, because, when you put the key in, it unlocks the gearbox

Think the interlock is for American market. So they put key where it is theoretically reachable from both sides. Without having to have two seperate systems for L/H and R/H drive cars.

Better the devil you know....& you wont achieve much improvement on the p38 even with vast amounts of money on a new RR Sport.

This is a good question. but I think it all come down to one thing... Can you? Your P38 replacement can only be a MKIII, now will at the end of the year it will be cheaper for your to keep your P38 (Maintenance, Gasoline, Insurance...) than owning a MKIII (Brand News Vs 2nd Hand)?

Personally the only thing that would push me to change is to get a better MPG for the same kind of Experience.

Are you kidding me ?? Lol

Not at all. After having the pleasure of driving both new Disco TDV6 & RR Sport's as company cars i cant see the difference to warrant the cost difference from my 02 P38 4.6 (bought after leaving my last company to pursue my own dream). In fact i find the interior on the P38 hard to beat. The looks are a little dated but it depends on what you want out of it & who your trying to impress lol

Exactly, also P38's are cheaper to maintain and there is a lot more info available for DIY

I popped into a LR specialist as I drove by today.

I kind of appologised for parking my p38 on the main forecourt.

As is transpired, the owner came out and appreciated the p38 and we discussed two LR he had in bits. both looking at bills north of £6k! The p38?

He reckoned are simple, honest and cheap to fix. Job done for me....

When the snow and muddy fields come. Give me a fettled p38. Game on.
