Bexley Council are looking to impose a TRO for vehicles on Tile Kile Lane (Byway 132) due to fly tipping and having a stolen vehicle stripped and set on fire on land adjacent the byway.
This is a totally invalid reason for a TRO and objections therefore need to be lodged with the council when correct police enforcement is required, not removing the rights of legitimate users.

Please provide your objections no later than 28th August 2009 to:

Just a note (other than the correct name of the lane is Tile Kiln Lane) please don't think that just because this is miles away from you it doesn't matter or someone else will object - the more voices we get heard the more these councils will think twice about abusing our rights with future proposals so get your finger out and send something off or it may be a lane local to you next time!

I wish to register an objection to the proposed TRO for Tile Kiln Lane (Byway 132).

My reasons for objection are that the proposal is simply a knee-jerk reaction to problems that could and should be solved differently. To close a Green Lane and deprive people of it's lawful use due to fly tipping and having a stolen vehicle stripped and set on fire on land adjacent the byway seems to me to be wholly wrong and not a valid reason for closing it. What is needed is the correct type of police or authority enforcement of fly-tipping and criminal/loutish behaviour, not the wanton disregard for the rights of normal people to use a lane through the wrong-doings of the criminal fraternity.

We already have so few legally driveable green lanes (Byways) that to lose any is to lose a fair proportion of those few available to us and to lose one due to criminal activity that isn't being policed properly is hardly a valid reason in my view. According to your own documentation "Rights of Way and Access Improvement Plan" Section 5 there are 61.6 km of Rights of Way, with only 6km of Byway, about 10% of the total Rights of Way .. Losing of this Byway network is to lose a large proportion of a limited resource.

I suggest the council might well do better to enforce current legislation to catch the fly-tippers and leave the Byways open so anyone and everyone can still enjoy and use them.

Sent just now ... ;)

LOL, Dave Green is out ...

"I am away from the office until Monday 24 August 2009, for urgent matters contact :-
Nigel Threadgold for Highways and Bridges, extension 2879
Dimitri Araj for Thames Road Improvement and Belvedere Employment Area projects, extension 2880
Brian Burton for Highway Development, extension 2952
Robert Smith for Drainage and Structures, extension 2916 "

So I've sent a copy to each of those people too, you know, just in case ... ;)

I should think it will be enough just to send a mail to Dave Green - they will just sit in his inbox until he returns from holiday on the 24th, might give him a bit of a shock hopefully.
