Just had 4 x new Scorpions on the landy at Charlie Browns earlier - best price i could get 104 each, normally about 125 upwards but beware...

Note - I've just had the car serviced at my local independant (used for years) and had MOT 2 days ago which it passed without any advisories. Bloke tried to tell me the disk/pad were knackered and sell me a new set - told me because of a little rust around the edge they we're prone to cracking. Sounds like the biggest load of rubbish i've ever heard. After i told him that it was er um ah yes...

Reackon they are selling tyres at virtual cost and trying to scare folk into having work done.

with all due respect to you, just because you have had a mot 2 days ago , the mot if you read the small print means that you car has pass the minimum requirments on the day to be road worthy.

the discs and pads may be worn but as its a 4x4 they cannot put it on the rollers to do a break test , all the mot person can do is a visual check.
they test the breaks using a device that sits in the footwell and it mesures the stopping power that way.

i appreciate that they do have sales targets to meet and you may feel that they are trying to sell you things you may or may not need, but it is the same every ware.

There are good and bad garages all over.

You got your tyres at a knock down price didnt you!

Nobody forces you to buy anything from them.... i have used charlie browns for over 10 years now , and they have now been taken over by kwik fit , i still go there . all the staff have been there since day one. they all know me , and the amount of work i have put there way because of there honesty is untrue.
just my opinion....
Mick

i cannot see

I had also had it serviced at the same time as MOT- same guy ive used for years and a personal friend of mine. Called him up and told them what they said - i won;t repeat his reply! I don't think he'd see me driving round with dodgy brakes.

On a positive note the tyres are spot on and a bargin - improved handling no end. It's even sorted the slight shake at 70Mph I was getting out.

Really quite. More so that my old Pirellis. - although they are a very similar tyre. They are 17" so not much choice other than Mitchs.

Steerings light, balace problem now sorted on the front - I can't believe what a differenece a new set has made.

Mickobrien, Bonnybrook, do you ever use spell checkers?!

No!!!!

the trouble is when im on line at work ( Very Bad ) the keyboard is not that good, and because i can type at 30 - 40 words a minute my big fat fingers offen hit the wrong keys.

Also the spell check on my mac at home is on ms word .

As far as i am aware the internet dos'nt have one.

Just to clear that up.
