Up **** creek.
Hi, Having put new BF Goodrich all terrains, Bilstien shocks, mintex pads and new disks all round how else can i improve my disco 1's road manners? the bird is still complaining its a bit "boaty" (rolls a bit) its our 1st 4x4 and i think a certain amount of that is to be expected nevertheless if it can be improved on... its a 1996(N) V8i XS. Im looking at Britpart cellular dynamic steering damper at the mo on paddocks, worth the £? also some wheel spacers, any more suggestions guys?

Invest in a roll of bodge tape, apply liberaly to the "mrs's" mouth when the complaints start........

Steering damper is to "damp" the steering, its orientated to damp sharp bump steer when offroad and wont improve your onroad manners unless the roads are ****e like in Lincolnshire :p

Uprated Roll bars is what you need for flatter cornering, if you have any roll bars, check, they might have been removed for better axle articulation, and yes stiffer uprated roll bars will make your offroading worse.......

Best option is the bodge tape if you ask me :)

I don't see how any of those parts will have any effect on it feeling "boaty" You need to be looking at springs, dampers and bushes etc

fit some polybush's or fit new genuine bushes,
polybush will give you a nice stiff ride BUT can be a right cu#t to fit.
polybush really stiffend my disco up, drives much better on road an even better off

You dont always need stiffer springs/dampers to gain better control of body roll, stiffer anti roll bars would achieve the safe thing without giving the stiffer ride quality, like I said tho, make sure it actually has still got the roll bars in the first place :)

where can i buy stiffer anti roll bars and which ones would anyone suggest? when you guys say stiffer dampers are you refering to the shocks as i call em or the steering damper? polybushes too by the look of things seem a good idea, and shall i buy new springs the ones ive got are from original (130K) - what type should i go for?

Bearmach do H/D anti roll bars. Ah've got the catalogue but no prices. Have a look at their website and try and find part # BA 2220 or there's other ones for front BA 032 and rear BA 034A. Dunno how good they are tho'! ;) :D
