Hi everyone,
Planning a rebuild and have no clue about suspension, anyone have any ideas of a good combination of shocks and coils? will be mainly road use and occasional light off road, muddy fields etc. will be standard size suspension maybe 2" lift. i looked at the complete kits of extreme 4x4 anyone use these?
thanks

I would get OEM springs. If it is just laning or the odd p&p them you won't need anything else and avoids replacing brake flex hoses props etc

I put standard genuine LR springs and dampers on mine... I would suggest standard OEM stuff (not Britpart) and no lift... spend the saved money on diff guards and maybe a Rebel steering guard. Mine copes very well with most conditions. A two inch lift is nothing and in my view not worth the effort. I get through the mud runs every time at the shows just like most others :)

I had the Extreme4x4 Evolution kit and found it an excellent setup, it gave great articulation, spring rate was just right, shock held up to all sorts of off roading, really couldn't fault it.

However... if your doing light off roading then go standard height. A set of De-Carbon shocks or similar wouldn't hurt as they will be cheaper than OE ones yet are generally better quality, the Extreme4x4 setup for just shocks/springs is good vfm in my opinion and instead of extra height invest in a steering guard, 2 diff guards and a set of HD steering rods, this will give you extra protection underneath that is vital if you want to be able to drive home.

How fooking much eek that's at least double what genuine parts will cost.

front springs and a pair of Munroe shocks will set you back about £80 rears won't be much more. Certainly less than £200 for all four corners.

I'll deffenitly stick with standard springs, hopfully i wont need to replace them. and then new shocks. maybe de-carbon. sounds good to me.
Is there any point to replacing trailing arms panard rods etc when the car isnt being lifted? i know modern trailing arms are alot lighter but they are very expensive. is it worth it?
im basically planning on building a brand new rolling chassis and sticking the body, engine and id on it from a late 80's early 90's landy. so wanna try use as much from the donor car as possible

No no point at all Rernew the bushes and that'll be all that's needed. remember MOD 90's are std and manage find in warzones and disasters around the world tackling stuff your 90 with the same setup will never have to cope with.
