Best security for my defender?

Hi I'm new to the forum Iv had a discovery for a year or so iv just bought a defender with all tricks on I'm just wundering what's the best security because iv been told theres a lot of defenders going missing and parts being stolen off them any advice would be much appreciated cheers Jon.

My mate has one o them clutch claws on his 90 n a removable steering wheel.

This has been discussed many many times.

Its all about making it take longer to steal or harder than the one round the corner.

- Cat 1/2 Immobiliser
- Alarm
- Proper Disklok
- Wheels parked on full lock

will be steps in the right direction.

Cant really comment on individual systems.
Just check its Thatcham Approved, or better still phone your insurance company and ask them if the have a list of approved devices. you may even get a discount with one of them fitted.

for my money i would buy a disklok first. There are loads on Ebay, make sure you get the three keys with it

Not true unfortunately.

A bog-o standard garage is not much of a barrier for the type that steal Land rovers.

Of course its one more step in the chain, but that alone is no deterrent.

I would like to see them get my 90 out of my garage......

Just remember we aint dealing with your 19 yr old little scrott thats nicking a car for a joy ride.

These are highly organised well equipped thieves!

Of course not having seen your garage im not going to comment on the security of it, but from my point of view and opinion i would do more than have it just in a garage.

On a serious note anything that will slow them down to make them take one from some other poor sod, but if they want yours they will have it!!!

You could paint it bright orange so they can't drive it discreetly

These are supposed to be very good, although I prefer the Disklok as the pedal locks are very chunky and hard to store day to day.

As i said and sible quite rightly repeated.

its about slowing them down, and making them go else where nothing you do willl "STOP" them taking it.

Only thing to add is, where possible, park it somewhere that a hi-lift crane on a flat bed truck would find hard to get to

they wont attempt the hi lift crane job as there is cables running above the drive they couldnt lift it without wiping the street out only way really is to move 3 cars to get it out of gate at min im more worried about things getting stolen off it at the min
