best route from workington(lakes) to peterbprough

can any one suggest any good routes 4 me . im going 2 be travelling from workington cumbria 20ish miles north of keswick to peterboro on monday . i will travel through the lakes and think then across .any places/routes not to miss .im takin wife and kids up sunday then they staying wi grandad 4 a couple of days , so im taking day of on monday for a nice run bac in my defender 90 200 tdi . yipee.thanks
