Ok I am thinking of getting some off road tyres for my defender 90.

I have looked at Insa Turbos as they are what my mate has and they look the business and proform well off road.

I have seen the Kingpin copys and like the price but have seen the warnings too!

Wondering are King pin remoulds worse than Insa Turbos? Or are they both as bad been remoulds?

I am not too fussed as to there milleage overall as long as the dont dissapear on the short trip to work and back or the pay and play site!

Just not sure if I should shell out 700 on insa turbos when they look the same! but king pins are 500.

Or anyone know where either Insa turbos are cheaper or NEW NEW tyres similar to insa turbo special tracks that are also cheap?

I have seen a few sell for peanuts on ebay just prefer to get them all in one than in dribs and drabs!

Ok no bugger replied so I went for the KingPin route!!!!

Reasoning....

1) If they are crap I will flog them and upgrade to Insa Turbos or better ones.
2) If I went for Insa Turbo then they are still Remoulds!
3) They come with an E mark so must be ok! (Or one would hope but I deal with the ISO 9000 at work and know its a load of **** so not willing to be held accountable for saying that! lol)
4) Can't think of owt else to justy them so suppose its just putting my money where my mouth is lol

there's a geezer on ebay sells insa turbos for about £200 quid for 4, I won't post a link as I don't wanna be accused of spamming:p:p just :search: for them.

hwo much !!
£700 fooking ell shouldof looked on paddocks site

That was Paddocks! Includes the Steels Wheels too.

I have been looking on Ebay and seen them go from £16 upto stupid money used. However I didnt want to have to wait 6 weeks to get a set!

The sets of 4 or more were 300-500 with wheels. And £330 for 4 tyres.

I paid £280 for a set of 5 New Remould Kinpin Treckers ok they are not as big as I was going to get 265's instead of 285's.

I have seen a set of alloys for £50 which need re painting (Or if too lazy £140 and get them re furbished already!)

I think £80 a corner is ok even if I have to put them on for weekends and return to my other wheels during the week.

And if they turn out that they are not for me I am sure they will sell on again without too much hassle.

I will be the test rat!

(Just had them droped off now) They do look a bit cheap and Rubber feels softer than the Insa Turbos but not sure if that is as there is no air in them!

At least it will mean I can join in on some of the fun on the pay and play sites :)

I have AA Cover if all else fails lol!

Dont get me wrong if this had been for my RS Turbo kit car then I would never have even contemplated a remould but not like I am going to be doing 0-145-0 challenges in my defender! Unless I acidently get hit/caught on an ground to air missile!

I mean a 0-60-0 without it shaking its rust off would be a winner!

had the same issue, so I bought locally as someone I know bought cheap wheels and the rims were trash

I bought a set of modulars off eBay not so long ago for £50. They need tarting up, but they're otherwise fine. Just got to decide what to fit, so I'm keen to hear what you think of the Kingpins. And also (I'm sure I'll get a kicking for this) find somewhere that'll fit the tyres to the wheels despite not buying from them. Is this something that most tyre places are happy to do? Or will they tell me fekk orf and not to be so cheeky? :)

Ian.

No most places will do it. I am shocked at the price tho £13 a wheel at the guy who sells part worn tyres! I was in a hurry so went to the garage that do the company vans £8 a go... Was going to wait and have them done for free in the garage over the way.

(Price includes a new valve)

Oh forgot to say I got Rims last night from Ebay. £50 for 5 with center caps.

I was going to get these with the tyres on and get the guy to swop them and keep the tyres to try and get the fitting for free... However when I got there he had a set that didnt have tyres on them so I took them ones so that I could get on with spraying them even tho they only needed a wash.

I am off roading them so didn't want anything too good.

ski tyres not sure if you have one local to you well they charge 20 quid a wheel and tyre if not bought from them

Paid £8 for them doing as they could fit them in so I could have them back this morning.

I have spent the day spraying them black so now they look the business!

Just had one up against the wheel arch and they look cool. I would say adding a set of black alloys and new tyres could add a grand to any truck! lol weird but I bet its true.

Hoping they are going to be dry for tomorrows outing! If not I may be spending next weekend re spraying them! (Wish I had got them last weekend now!)

Oh well tis the joy of having an off roader!
