Hi Guys and Girls,,,,I am a new member and just finding my way around this great site. I recently bought a Range Rover Vogue 300 TDI ,2005,and would like to change the engine oil and filter. Can anyone suggest my best option for oil, without going for expensive "Mobil" products ?

Is it wise to use a "Low Ash" oil,,also, does this engine have a particulate filter?

You are called lubeman and you need to ask about oil

:D

Any Semi 10w40 :) If you buy in bulk you will get it cheaper, I got 25L of Carlube for £53 from Motor Part Direct. Spending £40 for 4L is a waste of money as you will be dumping it before its has had any real use. Of course you might be able to extend the service intervals with a better oil but I havent tested this so couldnt recommend it.

Thanks for your advice,,,I asked the question because every vehicle has different requirements ,and the Castrol website does not quote for my vehicle.I want the best alternative to a dealership charging me £12 a litre for Mobil One

How long till some one says.....

F F S.....SEARCH

or Universal Tractor oil....

I was gonna say that but I always get :eek::eek: response, so I'll just say........

Large drums of inexpensive, multifunctional, agricultural machine lubricant :p

and change it regularly.
