Hi all,
My recently acquired discovery 2 has road tyres on and having recently winched it out a field I think it's time to upgrade...I
've had insa turbo special tracks on a defender and they ruined it. Catastrophic increase in noise as well as a drop in fuel economy and almost dangerous braking performance.
All terrain tas are to expensive for a £1300 disco as really are general grabbers. I've come across three localish deals that I could do with an opinion on which of the following deals is best:
Maxxis bighorn 764 fitted £470.00 looks like they'll have good off road performance but I'm concerned they'll have the same noise levels as the insa turbo
Maxxis worm drive at980 £450 fitted look a compromise but not sure about mud performance
Cooper discoverer at3 tyres real cheap at £370 plus there on the oldomans jeep and are real quiet but I think there to road focused

Cheers

I'd personally go for the coopers if road noise and economy are your primary concerns, will still be winching out of fields though!

If you want good performance in the rough, you've got to accept the downside of noise and slightly decreased fuel economy unfortunately. All terrains are a good compromise, but I run muds as I can't afford to be compromised off road as its a work vehicle and greenlaner, I just have to suffer the ill effects of noise etc and take it as par the course
