hi all

I apologise for my first post to be an ask for help but I really could use some advice.
I have a 2003 td5 90 with 122k on the clock. long story short,
ive had turbo run away caused by a knackered injector seal. new turbo, injector seals, oil filters before i was told just get a second hand lump and chuck it in. This seems to be be the trend as i have asked about.
i was abit shocked at this because it starts first time and runs, just runs rough. i was told by a mechanic that it is probably a bent conrod and getting another engine is the best way to go. is this really the case? im not bad at the old spanner bashing but never preformed open heart surgery on an engine. so i don't really know what to do with it but i don't really want to fork out for another engine if i can help it. is it worth stripping it down and replacing piston ect? im keen to get on with it but don't want it to be a waste of time if its still knackered after.
any thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated
thanks in advance

Its a time vs cost thing.

Mech doesnt know what he will find, very hard to bill for wasted time opening an engine and finding trashed bores.

Nothing ventured nothing gained if your doing it on your own clock and dime though.
