Started on the front axle and knuckles

Whipped out the old oil seals, left them in for blasting so the seal lands were protected, and cleaned up the grimy bits with a wire brush on the drill - I told the blasters to try keep away from these bits...

For anyone interested I'm using Arc Rite Tractor Paint, High Build Zinc Phosphate Red Oxide Primer -> http://arc-rite.co.uk/high-build-zinc-phosphate-primer-red-oxide---choose-size-9893-p.asp

And their Fast Dry Tractor and Machinery Enamel in black -> http://arc-rite.co.uk/fast-dry-tractor-and-machinery-enamel---choose-size--colour-9942-p.asp

My mate bought it to do some Jimny axles, and only used about 100ml they're so tiny LOL

The axles are ready for black paint now, I'll probably hold off doing that until the new balljoints are in and I've fixed the rear spring seat mount - need to get myself a welder :D

Once the black is on I'll clean out the tubes with paraffin, there's a fair bit of blasting media mixed in with old gear oil lining them.

Some bits....

Rear calipers, balljoints, rear caliper carrier bolts, 4 hub nuts, 1 d3 drop link, Ferrodo rear pads, DOT4, front & rear ARB bushes, panhard rod bushes, rear drilled & grooved disks (not in pictured). About half the order, rest coming tomorrow.

I'll bang the balljoints into the front axle early evening then get the first coat of black on.

Also going to paint the brake parts with the leftover engine paint that I have.

Ha nice one. Was that R380 I dropped off OK? I think it had everything intact other than the oil seal collar.

These axles, the only thing I'm re-using is the hubs, it looks like Timken have stopped manufacturing them, spoke to a UK reseller at Donnington who reckoned he could get them at 100 a corner but no chance of that now. Most if not all the chinese knock off have the wrong number of cutouts on the reluctor rings, 55 instead of 60, no clue why. The upshot is you have to replace all 4 or get ABS/TC issues and even then the speedo is then out.

havent had chance to look yet ive been very busy at work and trying to get house sold and having to take my father to hospital once or twice a week though there is some good stuff there ,still cant buy any baulk rings except through ashcrofts ,funily enough ive just fitted a rear hub on mine it s ok for a day or 2 then lights come on again, first time ive had issues and ive fitted quite a few hubs over the years

I guess that might prove the reluctor ring theory then. If I have to replace at any point I'm going to physically eyeball the notches first.
