Well mine has had it bearings are shot it squealing like mad a bit of WD40 shuts it up for a min but then it comes back:mad:

So does anybody know how much they cost and what are the like to fit??

its on my 90 300 tdi

Get the bearing for it, its about £5.

I have the code for the bearing about here somewhere when I find it I will post it.

Aye here: Land Rover Discovery 300 TDI fan belt tensioner Bearing on eBay, also, Land Rover, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 14-Dec-08 20:13:00 GMT)

If you can I would go into a bearing shop or engineering shop and ask for a SNR 6203EE if they don't have it they will give you one thats the same size and can do them same job. There is a SNR 6204EE (I THINK) that is the same bearing only its rated to about 400,000rpm. The faster its rated the longer its going to last at these relatively low speeds.

Yes you just push the old one out, and that ones goes in. Job done, there is a site somewhere called bearings.co.uk or something that sells them for about £2 a pop.

Put the pulley in a vice (careful not to damage it, use a piece of wood either side) and then tap the bearing out with a drift. Then line up the new one and using a vice push it home with a large socket or something.

An SKF 6203-2RSH will also do the job.

If you get the old one out and take it with you a engineering shop will have something.

Also I have forgotten the critical bit of info, there is a snap ring you need to remove, its difficult to remove, but (someone told me this on here AGES ago - and it works) if you file a little notch in against the edge of the bearing into the pulley, you can get a little screwdriver in and pry the snapring out no problem at all.

You can get the snap ring out without doing that but its a bit tricky, its like trying to replace alternator parts leaving it on the engine, it can be done, but its much easier to remove it.

Its a 20min job and will save you about £35.
