Ahead of my first real long(ish) road trip in the Hippo next week, I've been doing all that I can to get her ship shape.
Shortly after acquring the car (about two months ago) the first job that I did was change the cambelt and tensioner. All fitted nicely and cover duly applied with the reassuring sticker proclaiming that the belts were changed at 101K (or thereabouts).
Being a belt and braces sort of chap, I decided to whip the cover off and check all was still in order. To my surprise, I noticed that the tensioner has moved. The odd thing is, that it's moved to almost exactly the position that the old one was in when I removed it.
I'm guessing that the belt relaxes after the initial tensioning. The belt still feels well tensioned to the touch - but the movement in the tensioner worries me.
My question is...is this normal? I just wonder if I should reset the tension - or leave well alone. Any ideas?
Cheers,
Ian.
